The
Coastal Alaska web site was developed to provide interested parties with
access to biophysical mapping data for portions of the Gulf of Alaska and
Southeast Alaska shoreline. The site provides access to the raw data used
in the Alaska ShoreZone Mapping Program (the aerial video imagery) and
explains the process behind the biological and physical mapping of the
data (the downloadable ShoreZone Mapping Protocol for the Gulf of
Alaska).
To effectively and appropriately use ShoreZone coastal mapping data, the
user shall refer to the ShoreZone Coastal Habitat Mapping Protocol
(2007), available here or at the Coastal
and Ocean Resources Inc. website. Data summary reports are also available for download at site.
Data provided are derived from large, regional databases that are
continually being updated and modified. The accuracy of some information
is subject to change. Any published data sets (printed, digital, or
online) utilizing ShoreZone products shall clearly indicate their source.
If the user has modified the data in any way, the user is obligated to
describe the types of modifications performed. The user specifically
agrees not to misrepresent these data, nor to imply that changes they
made were approved by the ShoreZone Program.
The ShoreZone Program is a partnership of public, private, and
governmental agencies. Protocols for data access and distribution are
established by the program partner agencies. Video imagery and mapped
themes can be viewed and digital stills downloaded at the NOAA ShoreZone site.
Any hardcopies or published data sets utilizing ShoreZone products shall
clearly indicate their source. To ensure distribution of the most current
public information or for correct interpretation, contact
the ShoreZone project manager at Coastal and Ocean Resources, Inc.
